A spring hitch has the same hook design as the semi hitch. However, in this case, the bucket/attachment has two fixed pins. The pins are captured within the body of the hitch and held in place by a spring loaded jaw. This jaw is opened and closed by the operator with a separate lever/bar (normally kept in the digger cab). Once the bucket/attachment is captured, a small sturdy security pin is put in place to prevent the jaw releasing the bucket by accident and discourage unsafe operation.
